April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. The seventh grade was when she began playing guitar, and also taking piano lessons which ignited her love for writing songs. The song that she first wrote for April was Different which she composed when she was 12 years old. When she was 14, April spent much time writing lyrics and perfecting her singing capabilities. Her writing began alongside her father and her dad in NY and LA shortly after. April began also to incorporate various other topics of concern for some of her classmates who struggle with things like social pressure and teenage suicide as depicted in the song"Take" my Hand. Lockhart collaborates with the well-known clean beauty brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle blogger with her own growing fan base. The truth is that she was born with no left hand. This is what makes her different. But this isn't the only thing about her. As a result Lockhart's Instagram profile does not shy away from her disabilities, yet it doesn't center around her disability either. What message is it trying to convey? That we all contain multitudes that our identities are complex and we're more than our physical selves. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by the condition she has. She does not want to become a disability advocate who focuses on that. There are so many aspects to Lockhart. This doesn't have any effect on my normal life. I just do things normally, and I've discovered the best way for me to adapt to things. Since it's a part of who I am It's an issue worthy of discussion. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart truly inspires me on that front. However, she acknowledges going through a few phases of her body at times not being confident in wearing certain types of clothing that showed off her arms. Now, she dresses in whatever she wants. and she shares her pictures to social media. Self-love, she explains, can be described as a trip. "I don't think you'll ever get in that place," she said. That's my opinion. all people, regardless of what their fear may be. People you spend time with that truly understand you and are able to see inside your soul are those who will remind you the things that matter.
